Registration for the 2026 Sunday School year at St. Mary’s Malankara Syriac Orthodox Church is now open. We warmly invite all parish families to enrol their children in this year’s programme.

Classes and Levels

Sunday School is divided into three levels:

• Primary — younger children; Old and New Testament stories, Malayalam prayers, and introduction to liturgy
• Intermediate — Syriac Orthodox traditions, church history, and the sacraments
• Seniors — theology, liturgical Malayalam, and preparation for parish service

Each class begins with a Common Session for all levels together — prayer, opening devotion, and shared teaching. Children then break into their individual level classes for the level-specific lesson.

Schedule

• Start date: Saturday, 14 February 2026
• Time: Approximately 12:00, following the Holy Qurbana
  • Common Session (all levels)
  • Individual level classes (Primary / Intermediate / Seniors)
• Frequency: Most Saturdays on which Qurbana is held — see the parish calendar for the full schedule

How to Register

Parents can register children by:

1. Speaking with the Sunday School coordinator after any service, or
2. Emailing the parish (contact details on the Contact page) with your child’s name, age, and preferred class

There is no registration fee. Families with multiple children are encouraged to register all at once.

Books and Study Materials

Official Sunday School textbooks and study materials are published by the Malankara Syriac Orthodox Church — Europe. Parents can download age-appropriate materials here:

The coordinator will share specific book recommendations for each age group at the first class.

A Note From the Vicar

Sunday School is a cherished part of parish life — a place where our children grow in faith, in Malayalam, and in fellowship with one another. We look forward to welcoming both returning families and those joining us for the first time.

By the grace of God and with the blessings of His Grace the Patriarch, the parish of St. Mary’s Malankara Syriac Orthodox Church, Oslo, held its Annual General Body Meeting — Pothuyogam (പൊതുയോഗം) for the year 2026.

Sandhya Prarthana

An evening prayer (Sandhya Namaskaram) was held the previous evening — Friday, 16th January 2026, at 19:00 — as part of the Perunnal preparations.

Auction

An auction was held after the General Body Meeting, with generous contributions from parish members — handmade crafts, baked goods, and gift baskets. Proceeds supported parish activities for the coming year.
